Kenyans consume more chicken pizza than any other flavor, new data from Glovo shows.
The data from consumption patterns from February 2022 to February 2023 indicate that from than 135,000 pizzas ordered, 15,960 were chicken pizza, followed by Pepperoni and Margarita.
“This also shows that Kenyans love chicken compared to supreme pizza –based on pork and beef, which is the favorite in Ghana,” read the statement from the company.
It means that Glovo delivered 370 pizzas per day or 15 pizzas per hour in the country.
The golden minute consumption was on Huduma day, last year on 10th October, at 14:48h where 36 pizzas were ordered at that particular minute.
Tuesday was the day with the highest pizza consumption, accounting for more than a third of the total orders, followed by Sundays as the second most in-demand option, with a quarter of the total. This could be attributed to the fact that on Tuesdays and Thursdays there is the ‘buy one get one free’ offer where several Glovo partners offer 2×1 deals, making it the perfect day for people to order pizza.
“Glovo has partnered with key pizza outlets to support the growth of the delivery industry. We are seeing more customers opt to make their orders online, as evidenced by the number of pizzas we have delivered in the last 12 months, says Caroline Mutuku, General Manager of Glovo Kenya. ”
Nairobi and Mombasa were the top two cities with the highest pizza consumption while the user who ordered the most pizzas placed 124 during this one-year period.
In terms of local gastronomy, Glovo delivered more than 14,000 plates of chapati during the last year.
