Safaricom has announced huge changes in its top leadership barely days after lawyer Adil Arshed Kwawaja took over from John Ngumi as the Chairman of the Board.
In the announcements made by the telco’s CEO Peter Ndegwa on Wednesday, Feb, 1, 2023, the KCB Corporate Banking Director, Esther Masese has been appointed as the Chief Financial Services Officer effective February 21.
Masese will be tasked with the duty of offering strategic leadership and overseeing the financial services of the company.
She takes over from Boniface Mungani who has been holding the position in acting capacity from July last year.
In the new changes, Mungania has been appointed as the director of Public Sector Digital Transformation with effect from April 1.
Key among his new roles will be to develop partnerships within the public space and pushing digital transformation projects to the county and national levels.
In the same note, Zizwe Awuor Vundla, South Africa’s Marketing head has been named as the director of brand and marketing with effect from 1st of Feb 2023.
Mrs. Vundla will be tasked with the role of providing market and product leadership to the overall safaricom brand comprising of Mpesa, Safaricom business, And the company’s foundations.
Less than a week ago, Lawyer Adil Khawaja took over as the Chairman of the Board, completely sending home Bob Collymore’s team of leaders.
The new board chair has served in the same capacity at KCB bank having also served in the insurance industry as the Chairman of KCBs Insurance Agency from 2017 to 2020.
