Betting company Betsafe is the new shirt sponsor of AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia over three years, providing a much needed financial relief for two of Kenya’s historically most successful teams.
The sponsorship takes over from where Sportpesa was, which also sponsored both teams as well as the Kenya Premier League. It is however unclear whether both teams fundraise together albeit sponsors like partnering with both teams due to their rich fan bases.
Gor Mahia will get sh55 million per year, while AFC Leopards will pocket sh40 million per year.
A statement from Gor Mahia confirming the short sponsorship stated that Betsafe will launch their sports betting brand in the Kenyan market in the coming months.
Its registered entity is Bet High Kenya Limited whose trading name will be Betsafe.
Former Gor Mahia official Tom Bwana who is also the PR and Partner Manager for Bethigh Limited said the partnerships provides the firm with the perfect platform to engage football fans with their offering.
The sponsorship will commence when football resumes in the country.
Both teams were ecstatic to announce the shirt sponsorships.
