The Kenya Airways Board has thrown its weight behind Allan Kilavuka to take over as the substantive Chief Executive and Managing Director. He has been serving as in an acting capacity since Sebastian Mikosz resigned on December 31 2019, alongside still being the CEO of Kenya Airways subsidiary Jambojet.
“During his short time as acting CEO of KQ, Allan has thrown all his energy into this role, whilst still maintaining his position of CEO of Jambojet”, remarked KQ Chairman Michael Joseph.
He will however seize being the Jambojet CEO on March 31st 2020.
Allan has a Bachelor’s of Commerce Degree from the University of Nairobi and also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Psychology from the University of Liverpool. He has trained at GE’s world class Crotonville Leadership Institute in New York, USA in Executive Leadership, Advanced Management and Financial Management.
The statement from the Board confirming his appointment stated that he has over 23 years’ experience in leadership and management. He was previously at General Electric (GE), where he was the Executive in-charge of Global Operations for sub-Sahara Africa responsible for the strategic leadership in developing the shared service model and designing organization and structure. He has also held various senior roles in GE both in Kenya and South Africa.
He started his career at Deloitte and then General Electric Company. At Deloitte, he served as Audit and Assurance Manager for five years between 2000 and 20005. He has just served as Jambojet CEO from December 2018.
