A year after Chandaria Industries walked away with the Overall Energy Management Award, the 2018 edition of the Energy Management Awards (EMA) continues to shine light on the importance of using modern energy management principles in the sustainable production of goods and services to ensure we still have a healthy planet to live in, a 100 years from now.
Deliberate energy efficiency and conservation efforts have far-reaching impact on the environment, business community and society as a whole. The EMA, an initiative of the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) is an annually award that encourages companies who have put energy efficiency at the heart of their corporate and operational strategies.
“Organizations that have policies for energy efficiency experience benefits such as reduced peak power demand, saved energy costs and, importantly, improved industry competitiveness. Industry could be a big part of the solution for sustainable development in line with the Sustainable Development Goals,” said Mr Siddharth Chartterjee, UN Resident Coordinator and UNDP Kenya Representative.
To participate in the awards, companies will need to submit an approved energy policy, their previous/old policies and proof of policy communication. Submit energy management plan/programs, formal appointments for energy management, an energy management-training program and evidence of program attendance among other documents.
The submission deadline for the 14th Energy Management Award is 19 January 2018.
