P&G nominated as the East Africa Employer of Choice

Procter & Gamble (P&G) has been nominated in 5 categories in the inaugural East Africa Employer of Choice 2016 Awards.

Procter & Gamble Company was selected by a portion of 2,000 East African professionals in five categories.

This nomination was a result of extensive search that involved researching over 500 companies that were listed in the survey for example Tullow, Coca Cola, World Bank, Unilever, Lafarge, MasterCard, Deloitte, EABL, Microsoft Oracle, Safaricom, Ethiopian Airlines, Oracle among others.

The 5 categories that P&G was nominated to are:- Overall East Africa Employer of Choice, Development Employer of Choice, Reward Employer of Choice, Women’s Employer of Choice and Local Attractiveness Employer of Choice categories. Organizations from private, public and non-profit sectors across the region took part in the survey.

“It’s an honour to be among the companies that have been voted among best workplaces- as a company we place great importance in ensuring that our employees are not only engaged but are also satisfied at work. For example we recently extended our maternity leave to be 4 months which has been a boost to employees’ career productivity especially the young mothers who face challenges in balancing their career and family life,”

says Irene Mwathi, P&G’s Communications Manager.

The principal areas of the survey were: leadership, operational effectiveness, inclusion, relationship with supervisors, fairness and equity, job satisfaction, learning and development, values and culture, performance and recognition and remuneration, mentoring programs, educational opportunities, dependent/child care support, leave for childbirth and alternative work policies.

The surveys were complemented through confidential interviews conducted with professionals from different backgrounds throughout East Africa.

Irene Mwathi adds that P&G has demonstrated strong commitment in Kenya by delivering quality brands, investing on social impact programs such as Children’s safe Drinking Water, Always Keeping Girls In School and Pampers Baby Care Hospital program

P&G, together with other companies will be recognized at an award ceremony that will take place in September 2016.
