Charles Gacheru, the founder and CEO of public relations company IMG had a terrible experience with Chase Bank before it was put under receivership. As recent as the day before the announcement of receivership was made by the Central Bank of Kenya, he had tried to salvage some money to no success.
IMG handles many corporate clients and events. Some of them include UAP Ndakaine Marathon, East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL) and Beyond Zero among others.
From the posts Charles Gacheru made on his Twitter page, deceit and lies were the order of the day and now IMG seems to be in a financial imbroglio.
Lying to customers has never formed part of a crisis communication strategy. Especially if you are a bank in crisis @wgkantai @herbling

According to @CbkKenya we can’t move over Sh1m in cash but @chasebankkenya directors and staff can move Sh13bilion of client cash.
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Yesterday @chasebankkenya asked its senior staff to call us and LIE to us that all was well. Don’t move your cash they said. LIARS.

If anyone knows where the @chasebankkenya bosses live, kindly drop me a pin. I need to send my 20+ employees and their families there.

How do you steal from a mama mboga whose working capital is in thousands or tens of thousands at best? And then build a mansion in Karen?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
I should have withdrawn this money then!!! Perhaps it was a sign https://t.co/6KPp3tD7V1

Are we likely to see @chasebankkenya managers arrested for this Sh30b heist and for lying to clients? Are we? @CbkKenya @KenyaBankers
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Were @chasebankkenya Relationship Managers specifically asked to LIE? Or did they LIE suo moto? SKUNKS.
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Yesterday I made out an RTGS @chasebankkenya hoping to salvage some money. However two bank officials called me reassuring me all was well
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Perhaps Duncan, Zafrullah had reason to spin tales. But why compel staff members to LIE? Or did Simon Kinyanjui and Anthony Yano act alone?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
At which point should a pal at the bank tell you – GET OUT! Or are they too busy protecting LYING BONUS POINTS?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Shouldn’t my relationship manager be looking out for me? Is part of his JD to LIE to me?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Can senior managers @chasebankkenya claim innocence? That hey never saw Sh30B of CLIENT MONEY fly out the door?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
IMG seems to have been a reliable client. Chase Bank saw value in them banking more deposits from them
As Simon Kinyanjui called me to deposit more and more with them, assuring me the bank was stable, was he aware of the rot within?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Are these relationship managers personally culpable for the destruction that has visited us and our employees?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
As sad as it is, it is now clear that conversations should move to what next should be done, to penalize those who are culpable of defrauding the trust Chase Bank customers had with them
So will the @chasebankkenya team of Duncan, Zafrullah, Paul and the likes of Simon Kinyanjui and Anthony Yano be arrested?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Or will it be declared a SNAFU? We die, they live happily after in Karen?
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
I thought I had friends @chasebankkenya I guess they were too busy filling unsecured loan forms. Not a hint. Not from one.
— CK (@CharlesGacheru) April 7, 2016
Can the LSK lead us in a class action suit vs the @chasebankkenya and its directors and staff? @Olez@DBK017https://t.co/pcYFkxsK70
