My Experience with the Infinix Hot 2

By Catherine Ondari

I have been using Infinix Hot X507 for the past 7 months. Infinix Hot 2 has recently been launched under Google’s Android One program and I was curious to check out what new features it has over the first one. I have been using it about two weeks now and I think it is yet another awesome gadget for an entry level device. Let me get into the details of it.

The phone has a 5” HD screen, which is fairly big with a decent resolution (720 pixels by 1280 pixels). The screen size enables one to comfortably use the keypad which is also customizable and it makes the experience exciting.

Operating System

The phone uses Android 5.1 Lollipop. This is an upgrade from the Infinix Hot which has Android 4.2.2. The changes are pretty subtle but they make the whole experience more exciting.

Sleek design

The phone is surprisingly light for its size and fits find in a purse and the palm love the size and shape of it, just big enough to fit into my palm as I scroll through.

The phone has 2GB RAM and 1.3GHz processor making it great for multitasking especially for someone who likes apps. From messaging, to games, to productivity apps. I installed quite a number of them just to gauge the performance and responsiveness of the phone. Unlike most phones that tend to be slower when many apps are installed, this one has worked without any glitches.

The phone has internal memory capacity of 16GB and expandable up to 32GB with microSD. Thus, a user can store a lot of music, photos and videos.

The rear camera is 8 megapixels while the front one is 2 megapixels. So basically the phone takes amazing pictures that are so clear and beautiful. The lens blur feature is also very impressive. I also love the Undo option that pops up just after you delete a picture. That way I can get back pictures that I accidentally erase or those that are purposefully deleted by my friends who think they look weird in a certain pic. *Evil laugh* I was disappointed though, that the flash only works on video mode and not on camera. So taking pictures with it in a low light environment is literally impossible.

No pre-Installed recorder or document reader

I tried to transfer a document from my laptop to the phone and it gave me an error message. I was also at an event trying to get a recording of the speaker, but I couldn’t find any audio recorder. I assume it does not have any, and if it does then it is hidden because I have searched for it since and I am yet to find it. I am considering downloading one from the play store, but that would mean more charge would be used up. The more apps you have, the more charge is used up, which I will not say is a let-down, because that is typical of smart phones.

All in all, this is a great phone that works best for social purposes, though it could also serve a business-oriented individual. The dual-sim make allows you to use more than one network of your choice and you can open as many application tabs as you want and access all of them almost at the same time without having to close any. Overall, I have enjoyed using the Infinix Hot 2. I would definitely recommend it to anyone that’s looking to have a great phone.
