FMD East Africa, the Massey Ferguson distributor in Kenya has introduced the fuel efficient MF 4700 Global Series tractor to help farmers cut on fuel costs by 5-10 per cent.
The long stroke engine provides high levels of rotation across a broad speed range. This not only minimizes diesel use but also noise, wear and tear, resulting in lower fuel bills and a more pleasant operator experience
According to Fergus Robley, FMD General Manager Africa said that the series of tractors takes pride in the well-known Massey Ferguson pride of reliability, ruggedness and now improved fuel economy.
”The MF 4700 series has a modern, yet simple design with high levels of comfort and is a real workhorse providing exceptional service and value for money to the farmer,”said Robley
He added that the 4.4 – litre AGCO power, four-cylinder engine provides the heart of the 82HP Massey Ferguson 4708 model providing 342Nm of torque at only 2,200 revolutions per minute.
These Massey Ferguson tractors feature an all-new constant mesh and synchronised transmissions which provides a total of either eight forward and eight reverse or twelve forward and twelve reverse speeds courtesy of two ranges.
Four gears are within the 4-12kph typical fieldwork range, while maximum speed is 30kph.
The right speed for each job is easily selected using gear levers that are within easy reach, positioned neatly to hand on each side of the driver, ensuring unobstructed passage when mounting, or dismounting.
A single-plate, dry-type clutch is smooth to operate and simple to service. The MF 4700 series tractors make hard work a pleasure. The tractors are designed with simplicity of operation at heart with an emphasis on comfort and east of use.
The MF 4700 tractor boasts an impressive lift capacity of 3,000 kg, making it ideal for mounting most farm implements like planters, harrows or sprayers.
The Electronic Linkage Control (ELC) system provides precise and responsive control of linkage functions ensuring accurate management of working depth for soil engaging implements plus working height for other implements.
An interesting feature for any farmer would be the driver weight adjustment on the operators seat, which serves as a safety measure when starting the tractor.
Once seated, manually-operated controls are sited in the most ergonomic positions, making them comfortable to operate and reliable over the course of many thousands of tractor hours.
FMD East Africa technical staff provide training for the purchasers of the MF 4700 Global Series tractors and give after sales support.
The company also holds Xtra Care Clinics throughout Kenya where technical staff carry out mechanical checks and offer service and advice on spare parts for the owners of Massey Ferguson tractors.
Stocks are held at the headquarters of the company in Nakuru and branches in Nairobi and Eldoret and spares are available from the countrywide dealer network.
